T-Mobile Thanks Customers; Gives a Share of Common Stock for Free

T-Mobile (NASDAQ:TMUS) is launching various programs as part of its effort to say “thank you” to its customers including an opportunity to become a stockholder in the company.

Today, the company’s president and CEO John Legere announced Stock Up, a first-of-its-kind program that would make millions of T-Mobile customers into stockholders. No other publicly-traded company has done such move before.

T-Mobile customers can earn up to 100 shares per year

T-Mobile is offering a full share of the company’s common stock for free to customers who have a postpaid or monthly account, making them a stockholder.

According to the company, customers could increase their ownership up to 100 shares per year by recommending T-Mobile. Based on the current stock price of T-Mobile, customers will earn around $4,200 in one year.

In a statement, the company said, “The Un-carrier is offering a FULL share of T-Mobile US (TMUS) common stock to millions of existing and new customers. And customers can grow their ownership up to 100 shares a year by doing what they’re already doing—recommending T-Mobile.”

T-Mobile said its most loyal customers, who have been with the Un-carrier for five or more year will receive a special thank you—two shares of TMUS stock for every recommendation until 2017.

Existing customers can claim their T-Mobile stock starting tomorrow, June 7 until June 21. The stock price of T-Mobile closed $43.07 per share, down by 1.28% today.

Free gifts every Tuesday

T-Mobile TuesdaysAdditionally, the third-largest wireless provider in the United States also launched T-Mobile Tuesdays, a new app that would give customers free stuff and other prizes to thank customers.

T-Mobile partnered with Gilt, Dominos, StubHub, Wendy’s, VUDU, Fandango, Legendary Pictures, Universal Pictures, Lyft and other companies to provide customers with gifts every Tuesday.

Here are a few examples of upcoming prizes every Tuesday:

  • A trip for two to Vegas to stay at Mandalay Bay with tickets to see UB40 at the Mandalay Bay Beach and roll VIP style at Luxor’s LAX Nightclub. Plus $100 in Lyft credits to get around town.
  • A trip to MLB All-Star week in San Diego for you and a lucky guest, including exclusive access to the Home Run Derby press conference and batting practice to see the top players up close and personal.
  • Once-in-a-lifetime expedition for you and your hiking buddy up the legendary Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru, complete with accommodations, meals, and tours from The Clymb.
  • A trip to New York City to refresh your wardrobe with a $10,000 shopping spree with the help of an in-house stylist in the private Gilt showroom.

Legere said, “At T-Mobile, we already wake up every day working for our customers—so I’ve decided to make it official and turn T-Mobile customers into T-Mobile owners by offering them stock. And we’re thanking customers every week with cool stuff from brands people love. For free. Every Tuesday!”

Furthermore, the company will provide its customers with one hour of Gogo Wi-Fi on their smartphone for free on every Gogo-equipeed domestic flight. T-Mobile said texting on Gogo is still free for Uncarrier customers during the entire flight, but its boost the program with free in-flight messaging on iMesssage, Google Hangouts, WhatsApp and Viber.
